Help: Getting started with MYLO

Do I need to register?

MYLO is a free service, so you can view all the activities without registering. However there are some extra features that are available to you as a learner if you have an account:-

  • In the 'Challenges' section of MYLO, there are projects for you to complete. If you want to save your work between sessions, then you will need to register.
  • You will also need to register if you want to collect kudos points and appear in the MYLO leagues. You collect kudos points when you play games and complete the activities on the site.

If you are a teacher, read the 'Teaching with MYLO' section of this 'Help' guide to learn how teachers and schools register.

How do I register?

Registering as a learner is easy. You can create an account from the homepage, or via the 'Sign in or register' link at the top of every page.

You will then be asked to fill in a form with some details about yourself, such as your name and e-mail address. We suggest you use your school e-mail address if your school is registered with MYLO.

You will be able to choose a screen name, which is how other learners will see you. Make sure you choose something appropriate. You will also be asked to create a password to use each time you sign in.

Should my school register?

Schools can access all the activities without registering. However, there are extra benefits if your school does register. Teachers will be able to create groups of pupils that can share their work with each other. Teachers can even publish this work so that it can be seen by the whole MYLO community.

In addition, your school will be able to compete in the MYLO league with other schools.

Registration is available to UK schools.

How do I log in?

To log in, click on the 'Sign in or Register' link which is at the top of every page. You will need to type in your screen name or e-mail address and also your password.

Once you have signed in, you will have access to the work you have saved and your kudos scores.

How do I join a group?

Your school can set up groups of learners. If your teacher has set up a group, then you will be able to join it. This means that you will be able to share your work with each other and compare your kudos score with the people you know.

Once you have signed into MYLO, click on the 'Join a group' option. You will need the details of the group you wish to join. Your teacher will provide you with the 'Group name' and the 'Group access code'.

If your teacher sends you the link to the group, you only have to enter the 'Group access code' as the rest will be filled in for you.
