What are 'Challenges'?

'Challenges' are where MYLO asks you to get creative. They cover National Curriculum levels 4 and above. Choose a language then click on 'I'd like a challenge' to find a 'Challenge' that is right for you.

Contact and creative task

In each 'Challenge', you will meet a contact who will set the scene. There are chefs, designers, directors and many more characters who will each challenge you to help them with a problem that they have. There is an online tool called 'MYLO Create', which allows you to produce your own project to help the contact for the challenge. You will need your design and ICT skills as well as your language skills. Click on 'Begin the challenge' to open 'MYLO Create' and start your project.

Activities

To help you with the language skills you need in the 'Challenge', there are also activities for you to try. 'Get ready' activities help you with new language; 'Jump in' activities will show you the language in context and give you inspiration and material for your solution. In the 'Use it' activities, you can begin to manipulate the language for yourself.

Support

All Challenges have a 'Dictionary', 'Phrase book' and 'Culture notes' that are designed to go with the activities. You can look up useful vocabulary and interesting facts to help you complete the tasks.

Remember also that there is a review checklist to help you remember what to include in your answer. You can see the checklist when you click on the 'Share My Work' option.

There is also an 'Insight' section which explains some strategies you can use to help you with your language learning.

You can also use the 'Compete' sections to test yourself and what you have learned, and to try to improve your scores. You can play the games as many times as you want.
