If you are new to a language, then we suggest you try the 'Basics' section. Choose a language then click on the 'I need the basics' option.

The 'Basics' section of the site is divided into different topics, which are based around the following seven themes:

• All about me
• My life
• Making contact
• Out and about
• Dates
• Time
• Numbers

Each topic contains 'Get ready' activities, which introduce new language, 'Jump in' activities, which show you the language being used in context and 'Use it' activities, which help you to practise the new language. If you want to test yourself, you can try the 'Compete' activity and play against other learners.

The activities are designed to take you through National Curriculum levels 1-3. You can also use them whenever you need to revise a topic.
