Creative task

Each 'Challenge' contains a creative task for learners to complete. Learners will need to use their design and ICT skills as well as their language skills to fulfil the brief.

Contact

The 'Challenge' is introduced by a contact that sets the context and asks the learner for help. Click on 'Play intro' to access it.

MYLO Create

By clicking on the 'Begin the challenge' option, learners will be able to open 'MYLO Create', which is the online tool that they can use to create their own projects. 'MYLO Create' contains backgrounds and images that can be used in their projects but learners can also add their own images too. They will also be able to write scripts and record audio of themselves speaking.

Activities

To support learners in developing the language skills they need to complete the task, each 'Challenge' is accompanied by a series of activities. The 'Get ready' activities introduce new language and concepts. The 'Jump in' activities show the key language being used in audio and written materials. The 'Use it' activities provide learners with an opportunity to manipulate the key language for themselves.

Other support

Each 'Challenge' also has a 'Compete' activity, which allows learners to test themselves and to play against other learners online. There is also a 'Dictionary' and 'Phrase book' designed to accompany the task. In addition to the key language from the activities they contain further vocabulary for learners to look up and use in their project. A set of 'Culture notes' has also been written for each 'Challenge' to give learners further inspiration for their project, and to give them a wider understanding of the context.
