How do I manage groups?

Creating a group

Teachers and administrators can create groups. After signing in, click on the 'Create a group' option. Choose a group name that is meaningful to you. (You will be able to set up different groups for different sets of students.)

Complete the 'Information for learners' sections as and when you need to. You can update it at any time.

For the 'Group size' there are two options – 'unlimited' and 'limited size'. If you know the size of the group, it's a good idea to choose limited size. This allows you to keep a check on the students joining the group. (Any student given the access code for the group will be able to join.)

Once you have created the group, there will be a homepage devoted to your group. There is an access code that you need to give to all students that you want to join the group, together with the group name. You will also be able to see the work that students in the group have submitted and also the kudos score league tables.

If you send the link to the group homepage to learners, they will be asked to enter the 'Group access code' in order to join. Alternatively, they can join by following the link on their personal homepage, and then entering the 'Group name' and 'Group access code' when prompted.

Modifying a group

If you need to modify the details of the group – such as adding more 'Information for learners', click on the 'Edit group details' option. You will also be able to remove pupils from the group if you need to by clicking on the 'Manage group membership' option.

Closing a group

In the 'Group controls' panel, you can choose to 'Close the group'. This suspends access to the group. You will be able to reopen the group should you need to by clicking on the 'Open group' option. It does not delete the group.

Deleting a group

If you want to permanently delete a group, then click on the 'Delete group' option in the 'Group controls' panel. This deletes the group and removes any published work associated with the group.

Changing the owner of a group

In the 'Group controls' panel, select the 'Change owner' option. You will then be able to select a new owner from the list or registered teachers and click on the 'Confirm' option.
